· A good upper second class degree or above, with full breakdown of marks. GPA 3.8
or above where appropriate, at least at PG or final year UG level,
· Evidence of some coursework in all relevant major fields of a theology or religious studies degree (e.g. history/doctrine/Bible, or philosophy/religious traditions/religious texts)
· Ancient Languages: for Ph.D. in biblical areas, some evidence of both Greek and
Hebrew. In all cases likely to require it, evidence of some relevant aptitude,
· Modem Languages: evidence of some reading competence in at least one relevant
modern language; aptitude to learn more if necessary.

GRE
·Submission of test results are always required from North American applicants. In
certain circumstances, it may be thought applicable to ask for GRE scores from applicants outside North America.
·Percentile score above 90 in both the verbal and analytical sections of the test.
·A suitably high score in the writing test.
English as a Foreign Language (where applicable)
• Either: British Council/UCLES International English Language Teaching System
(IELTS), including oral, academic reading and writing tests, minimum score of 7.5.
Or: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), minimum score 630 (paper) or
267 (computer). Test of Written English (TWE) 6, Test of Spoken English (TSE) 60.
(In place of the TSE, an UCLES Certificate of Proficiency passed at level A or B is
also acceptable.)
